About founder
T.K.NarayanaSarma was born in Chala (Trivandrum, Kerala) to KunjanpillaAsan and Parvathy Amma. He completed his early education in Trivandrum and later moved to Vayaskara (Kottayam) for his higher education in Ayurveda. He then mastered the science of Ayurveda under the tutelage of his Guru Narayana Moss. After his initial phase of learning and working in Vayaskara, he left on a pilgrimage to various sacred places throughout India with the desire of understanding the philosophy of Hinduism. During this phase of his life he lived in Kollur (Karnataka) for a few years with the tantris (saints) leading the life of a saint. It was during the 1930s’ that Narayan Sarma visited Podanur (Coimbatore). Although the reason behind his visit is unknown, it was here he chose to settle down and serve the people with his knowledge in Ayurveda. It is evident from the dates recorded on the registration papers that he started his practice from 1935. Narayana Sarma then married Meenakshi Amma as a partner for life and work and they set off serving the people of Coimbatore. It is wonder how the duo prepared the innumerable medicines back in those days because today even with all the latest available techniques replicating the medical concoctions has proven to be a difficult task.
Narayana Sarma attained heavenly abode on the 11th of November 1969. However he has left behind a rich legacy of knowledge about the science of healing in the form of palm manuscripts and books collected by him. Narayana Sarmas’ passion and dedication towards the healing science was recognized by Association of Siddha medicine practitioners, Coimbatore, who honored him with the title “VaidhyaBoopathy”. He also holds another title “VaidhyaBhaskaran” bestowed upon him by the Association of Siddha medicine practitioners, Erode. In addition to these titles, his work and dedication was much appreciated by Mr. Manicka Velar, the then honorable Health Minister (the period when Dr. Nehru served as the Prime Minister of India). Today, his work is carried forward through the efforts of Dr. N. Anandhapadmanabhan, the youngest son of Narayana Sarma. Dr.Anandhapadmanabhan graduated from the Indian Medical Science Government College, Palayamkottai (Tirunelveli) and opted to carry his family tradition into the next generation. He accepted the offer from the Government of Tamil Nadu Healthcare Department and served in various parts of the state for 30 years. After his retirement his complete focus became research work at TKN siddha ayurveda Vaidhyasala in Podanur (Siddha hospital in coimbatore).
During his years of Government service, Dr.Anandhapadmanabhan has conducted several awareness programs about “Tamil Siddha Medicine System” for several education institutions and rural communities. However today he focuses solely on taking care of his several patients visiting him from all over Tamil Nadu and contributing his best to heal them. He is supported by his daughter Dr.Moohambigha, also a graduate in Ayurvedic medicine and son Mr. Nareash, a graduate in Business Administration, who focuses on Marketing the same and taking siddha medicine to the next level.
